Zane Van de Put's Reaction #8

I am very angry with the industrialists. They are acting like cowards. They are hiding in the Mulligan valley like children. They are staying there because they are on strike and want to get rid the world of “looters”. However, as they get rid of the looters they are also getting rid of innocent hardworking people as well. Have they ever heard of the saying “When the going gets tough, the tough get going”? I understand that the government is making it impossible for the industrialists to make money. However, they need to understand that life is unfair. They need to follow Dagny’s lead. She knows that the looters will make it difficult for her to make money and improve the economy, but she still goes back to the outside world after staying in the valley for a little while.
I now finally understand what the motor is, that John Galt is trying to stop. The motor of the world is Dagny and the great other industrialists. Without them, the outside world has turned into a depression and is quickly regressing. Galt has stopped the motor by taking the industrialists out of the outside world and into the Mulligan valley. I just wonder, what is going to happen to the outside world and to the industrialists in Mulligan valley?
As I am very far into the book, I begin to realize all the stories about John Galt are true. In the beginning, I was bewildered at these ridiculous rumors and thought they were just lies. For example, a character tells Dagny that John Galt is the one that found Atlantis and sunk his ship to be with it. At first I did not understand but then I realized that the Mulligan valley is Atlantis. They are both invisible to the human eye. Atlantis was considered a utopia by many people. Consequently, Mulligan valley is considered a utopia by Dagny. She even calls it heaven. Another story about John is that he found the fountain of youth but he left it where he found it. The fountain of youth that John Galt found was the motor he built in the twentieth century motor factory. This resembles the fountain of youth because this motor would have restarted the economy. The motor would have started a rebirth of society and changed it. It would have made the economy young again. However, John Galt leaves the motor in the factory for no one to be able to use. He leaves it there because he did not want the looters to be able to use the motor.
