As the novel begins to come to a close, I begin to realize I am going to come to miss this book. Over the past 9 weeks, Atlas Shrugged has become a part of my daily routine. It is something that I am going to come to miss and I wish that it would never end. That was a joke. This book can not end fast enough.
All kidding aside, Rand has done a great job to steer the reader in the direction she wanted when it comes to the clear protagonists and antagonists. I have grown to love Rearden and Dagny (even though she is a pain in the ass sometimes with her flip flopping) and made you hate the science institute. I cannot see how people who read the book after its release did not immediately call for change in the world.
I can also see what Anne Rand was trying to do with this book. Her viewpoints, while forced down my throat, have also changed my outlook on society. She has helped me to see what the American industry truly is, even if she was taking the wrong way of showing me, I still have seen what she was trying to do. It still amazes me how similar modern society and society back then are. The issues she was poking at with the novel are almost identical to the issues today. All this shows me is that no matter how hard I try or others try, there will always be the opposition making all of these issues remain ever-present.
