Chris Winters' comment on Olivia Thaler Reaction #9

I found this section of our reading, and the novel to be one of the most interesting parts that I have read so far. I was never expecting any of the characters that disappeared earlier in the book to reappear in an environment that seemed to embody clarity. I couldn’t agree more with your statement that Galt seemed to embody characteristics of a godlike figure. As I progressed through my reading was truly when I found the correlation and I noticed that Galt almost seems to resemble the character of Meursault. Galt is able to have knowledge and experience but he retains clarity. Personally I think Rand does this for a reason, she wants to express that it is possible to be successful but you must have the knowledge of the path it take to get their from the bottom. She gives these characteristics to Galt and it shows us that being selfless can in essence be just as good as being selfish. Understanding this concept I felt is what helped me realize why Galt is the kind of renown and well respected person that he is and hopefully Dagny can learn to accept this fact.
