Philip Kaifer's comment on Zane's Post
You are absolutely right about it being a bad decision for John Galt to let her see him. There are repercussions about Dagny learning that Galt works for her afterwards. Though most of the consequences at the end of the book are very confusing because while (Spoiler Alert) Dagny gets John Galt captured when she goes to visit him, He ends up being taken into custody and held at a hotel while the government grovels at his feet and begs him to work for them. As for what you were saying with Hank leaving his family with nothing, I think that is exactly what he does. One of Rand’s opinions is that charity is bad. It seems very likely that Rearden will just give them up. Even though it is extreme, this is one of the ideals that Rand supports strongly.
