In this section of the book, a whole new world begins to open up. With it, many problems, but also some happy parts. We find out that there is major problems happeneing with oil industry but nobody there to answer the questions. For the past year, all Dagny has been doing, is rushing to get Wyatt his rails on time to deliver the oil... but he is nowhere to be found, this leaves a lot of open questions for the future of Taggart Transcontinental.
While that side of her life is in complete turmoil, Dagny does get a spot of brightness when Rearden begins to open up a little more with his wife. While, he does not do it intentionally and it might have just been his subconscious, Rearden sided with Dagny in an argument. At James' Wedding, Lillian and Dagny have the same encounter with the bracelet that they had before. This time, unlike the last, Rearden does not side with Lillian, but rather sides with Dagny. This is showing that Rearden is really happy to be with Dagny and it is not just sexual, he actually has feeling for her. More so than with his wife. Now that he is siding with Dagny, it is only a matter of time until his marriage falls apart.
