It is the relationship between Dagny and Rearden that keeps
me engaged to the novel. The other
aspects stressed by Rand I find very interesting especially when they coincide
with Rearden and Dagny’s relationship. I found a connection between them and
their way of thinking at the beginning of the story I just never really
expected it to occur because of Rearden’s bitter monotone attitude towards
Dagny. I believe that as the railroad line begins to grow and acquire strength
their relationship does too, as if there was a connection between them as a
couple and Rearden Metal with the railroad.
I am almost positive that the creation of this new motor will only bring
them closer as a couple and business partners. Dagny and Rearden not only present a romance;
but also because they have the same capitalistic views they will both find each
other to be a perfect couple, starting with Dagny’s idea to start the John
Gault line. Which also leads me to believe that the new laws passed by New York
and Colorado will only bring them closer, not only because both will loose
large amounts of money; but also because they will most likely face the issue
together. The novel has me completely hooked. Not only because I find the
romance entertaining, but mostly because the issues presented by Rand are
nothing less than a new socialist government emerging which I’m completely
against but I find it interesting how it unravels.
