Part two of “Atlas Shrugged” jumps
right into interesting topics that continued to intrigue me. The conversation
between Dr. Ferris and Dr. Stadler was rather amusing. I like the character
that Dr. Ferris plays. Mainly because he constantly confuses Dr. Stadler and
me, making Stadler frustrated. I especially liked the line where he says, “ The
more we know, and the more we learn that we know nothing”. This is true since
with science the more we learn about our existence; the more we know that we
have yet to break the tip of discoveries. As the story continues, strangely all
these business owners surprisingly left their companies just as they were
becoming prosperous. Ellis Wyatt left resulting in companies dependent on him
go out of business. Andrew Stockton suddenly retires and vanishes, and shortly
after, Lawrence Hammond, also retires.
Personally I think James Taggart
has something to do with all their disappearances, and this is probably the
reason as to why the Colorado economy is failing. As well another topic that I
found to be rather interesting was that brought up by Dr. Ferris referring to
the Project X. Otherwise known as Project Xylophone. Hopefully as the story
continues we will learn more about it. As the story continues we learn that
multiple characters are in realization that total failure is approaching, those
being James Taggart and Hank Reardon. Taggart is on the verge of having his
corrupt business planes leaked and Reardon Metal isn’t prospering leading to
his possible downfall. Not to mention that Reardon’s wife Lillian found out
that he is having an affair.
